Extended Care
The mission of Alta Mira's Extended Care is to provide an opportunity for clients to step into a reduced level of structure while maintaining safety and support, allowing for integrating and consolidating gains made in Primary Treatment in order to facilitate long-term recovery.
Many patients elect to combine Primary Treatment with Extended Care. This change in care can be very beneficial as clients begin to apply the tools they have learned in Primary Treatment in a less structured yet supportive environment.
As clients encounter triggers and other challenges re-integrating into a community, they can come back to their groups and process what they are learning. This provides an excellent way to practice recovery skills in real-world situations prior to discharge.
Engaging in a structured program for 60 to 90 days is absolutely the most effective model for sustained results. Alta Mira's Extended Care Program is an intensive continuation for those who have completed Primary Treatment or for referral clients who have completed other primary recovery programs.

Alta Mira offers Extended Care for patients who have completed Primary Treatment elsewhere. Clients coming from other facilities will spend some time in Primary Treatment during the initial assessment and evaluation in order to ensure that they will be safe to move into Extended Care.
